Profiles
Anne, her family, and friends at a glance.
In Anne Lister's journals, we're introduced to many of her friends, family, and acquaintances. The people closest to her feature more prominently in her narrative, but there are others whose stories are often found only in Anne's journals and the odd item of correspondence. The sheer volume of information in Anne's journals makes the task of retrieving information about the people in her life fairly complex and time-consuming in order to locate a reference about a person's life.
To help everyone get the basics about some of the people in Anne's life and to make the existing research about them more accessible, we created these introductory profiles. These are suitable for anyone who just discovered or is interested in Anne Lister and the people in her life.
If you see any profile you'd like to contribute to, please get in touch! Looking for someone you saw mentioned in Anne's journals? Check out our Anne Lister's People project.
